Welcome to the Dictionary of Terms for the Creative Industries.
The aim of this exciting and innovative resource is to provide a comprehensive database of Welsh and English terms with definitions, for use within the Creative Industries. This resource will be expanded step by step, with various areas of the creative industries discussed and added in turn. It was decided that there was a considerable need to rationalize terms for the field of New Media considering the large increase seen in the number of university courses teaching within this area. With this in mind work began on creating a resource, which will hopefully become an essential tool for students, lecturers, researchers, teachers and members of the industry as they discuss this lively field.
The Dictionary of Terms for the Creative Industries is one of the projects of the Network Panel for the Creative Industries under the guidance and patronage of the Centre of Welsh Medium Higher Education. The project was directed by Dr Gwenno Ffrancon and Elain Dafydd from the Department of Media and Communication, Swansea University and implemented by Delyth Prys, Owain Davies, Dewi Bryn Jones and Gruffudd Prys from the Language Technologies Unit, Canolfan Bedwyr with the assistance and support of Elin Haf Gruffydd Jones, Aberystwyth University; Eifion Lloyd Jones and Eben Muse, Bangor University, and Non Vaughan Williams, Trinity College Carmarthen.
