User guide for the Dictionary of Terms for the Creative Industries.

1. Choose Search Type

First, choose a search type from the dropdown menu.

There are four different types of searches. The first is 'Search for the following terms:'.

Use this search type to search for a specific term or single word, or a word that is part of a multiword term. For example, searching for 'animeiddio' will display the entry for the term 'animeiddio' in addition to entries for terms that include the word 'animeiddio', such as 'animeiddio cyfrifiadurol'.

This search type can identify plural forms as well as mutated forms. Searching for 'amlgyfrwng', for example, will find 'amlgyfryngau all-lein', and a search for 'gwisg' will find the entry for 'adran wisgoedd'.

The second search type available is 'Search for terms containing:'.

This search type enables searching for parts of words. Searching for 'lun', for example, will show every entry which includes 'lun', including 'arlunydd cysyniadau', 'ciplun', 'llun terfynol' and so on. Note that this type of search does not recognize mutation or plural forms.

The third type of search is 'Search for terms beginning with:'.

This search type enables searching for words or terms that begin with a specific combination of letters. For example, searching for 'ffoto' would display all entries beginning with 'ffoto', such as 'ffotorealaeth', but would not display entries such as 'lens teleffoto'. Note that this type of search does not recognize mutation or plural forms.

The final search type is Search for terms ending with:'.

This search type enables searching for words or terms that end with a specific combination of letters. For example, searchig for 'ffoto' would display all entries ending with 'ffoto', such as 'lens teleffoto', but would not display entries such as 'ffotorealaeth'. Note that this type of search does not recognize mutation or plural forms.
